Our Story
Sunnyside was founded in 2020 by Michelle Ta, inspired by her personal mental health journey and the challenges she faced with her own diagnoses. Recognizing a shared struggle within her community, Michelle connected with others who sought accessible support. Driven by a passion to make mental health resources affordable and within reach for everyone, Michelle joined forces with a dedicated team of designers and engineers to bring Sunnyside to life. Together, they created a platform aimed at empowering individuals to prioritize their well-being.
Our Impact
Sunnyside’s mission is to provide culturally relevant and accessible mental health solutions for Asian adults who are disabled, neurodivergent and or both. Our long-term strategy focuses on three pillars: serving as a central resource for Asian mental wellness by partnering with culturally competent professionals to develop tools tailored to immigrant, adoptee, neurodivergent, and disabled communities; building an inclusive mental health community through peer support groups, mentorship programs, and community-building activities; and innovating accessible mental health tools with personalized wellness plans, therapy matching, and affordable options to ensure equity in care for underserved populations.
We aim to expand its reach and engagement by building partnerships, creating localized content, and developing inclusive outreach programs. To support diverse mental health needs, the platform will integrate comprehensive resources, including therapy, self-help tools, educational content, and community features, co-created with professionals and informed by user feedback. Ensuring accessibility and a seamless user experience remains a priority, with ongoing usability testing, accessibility enhancements, and intuitive design to cater to individuals with disabilities, neurodivergent users, and those with limited tech experience.
